The language of welfare is on the rise and the number of Americans receiving some miscellany of government assistance is at an all time marvelous and for some, it seems to be a way of life. The need for welfare was fop in the 1930s during the Great Depression. Millions of people people lost their jobs and homes. Fathers were leaving their families fag in search of work in separate cities and states. Mothers were left(p) behind with their children and had to survive on their own. The elderly were also pitiful because they didnt have the money to live on and w ere too white-haired(a) to work. Before the Great Depression, community charities helped the needy and the struggling family, still the downfall of the economy hit everone hard. The people that once helped the pitiable now had the urge to achieve their own survival. They no long had the financial means to help.

While Franklin D. Roosevelt rushed and tried to hold to a greater extent jobs, he also began to congest an idea that would give aid to lamentable people and their parasitical children. In Franklin D. Roosevelts State of the Union Address, he included that he planned on creating insur ance for the elderly, federal unemployment! , benefits for dependent children, and benefits for worthless single mothers with children. Welfare finally became a federal righteousness under the Social Security toy on august 18, 1935.
